Flag Design Contest - Leesburg, Virginia (250)

The Town of Leesburg is sponsoring a competition to design an official Town flag. The goal is to produce a flag that captures the essence of the Town’s rich history. The winning design will be unveiled at the official ceremony marking the Town of Leesburg’s 250th Anniversary on September 14, 2008.

There is no entry fee. The top five designs will be selected by an independent panel and presented to the public. Selection of the winning design will be based on votes cast by the public at a variety of venues, including the Town’s web site. The winner of the contest will receive a display size flag.

All flag design entries must comply with the following rules:

Keep the design, including any images or patterns, simple.
Use colors, images or patterns that relate to or symbolize the Town of Leesburg.
The design shall contain no more than five (5) colors.
Lettering or seals are prohibited in the design.
The design shall be distinctive and recognizable at a distance.
No specific elements are required in the flag design.
The flag must be rectangular in shape.

The intent should be to provide a design that is recognizable even when the wind is not blowing and the flag is at rest. All contestants must comply with the following rules:

All entries must be postmarked no later than June 30, 2008.
Design entries may be presented on paper in color or in the following electronic formats: JPEG, TIFF, PDF, BMP and EPS. Electronic images will only be accepted on Compact Disc (CD) or Digital Video Disc (DVD).
Each entry must be accompanied by project issued entry form.
A contestant may submit up to three (3) entries.

Please note that any entry that fails to comply with these rules will not be considered.
