The Loudoun County Landfill, located at 20939 Evergreen Mills Rd., offers recycling of white paper, cardboard, plastics, glass, cans, newspapers, magazines, phonebooks, catalogs, antifreeze, automotive batteries, tires and motor oil.  Some items may require a fee for disposal.  Please visit the Loudoun County Landfill Recycling Center website for additional information regarding items accepted and associated fees.  Calls regarding services should be directed to 703-771-5500. 

The Loudoun County Landfill Mulch Center offers free mulch to Town of Leesburg and county residents.  The mulch loading area is located to the left after passing the customer recycling drop-off center.  Landfill hours are Monday – Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  Residents must load their own mulch – it is recommended that you bring shovels, gloves or other tools as needed.

Electronics & Computer Recycling: Loudoun County holds two electronics recycling collection events annually, one in the fall and one in the spring. The next electronics recycling event will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Telos Xacta Corporation parking lot at 19886 Ashburn Road, Ashburn, VA 20147.  From Route 7, use the Claiborne Parkway/Belmont exit, turn left onto Russell Branch Parkway, turn left onto Ashburn Road.  Telos is on the right..  Please visit Loudoun County’s website for additional information on items that can be accepted and items which are restricted.  They also provide information on associated fees as well as links to other electronics recycling opportunities.

Batteries and Cell Phones: Automotive batteries are accepted free-of-charge at the Loudoun County Solid Waste Management Facility Recycling Center, Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. You may also return a used auto battery to the place where you are purchasing a new battery. Rechargeable batteries are accepted at Home Depot store entrance.  For additional information on recycling your rechargeable batteries and cell phones, please visit the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation for additional collection locations. Alkaline batteries (AAA, AA, C, D, etc.) may be disposed of with your regular garbage; however, recycling options are available for a fee at www.batteryrecycling.com/household.html, and www.biggreenbox.com/StoreFront.bok. Button batteries, such as those used in hearing aids and watches may be returned for recycling at the Wal-Mart jewelry counter, or they may be disposed at the county's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events. Other jewelers may accept them as well, but call first to confirm.  Used cell phones may also be donated to the Loudoun County Victim Witness Program. Please call 703-777-0417 for drop-off locations. Cell phones are also accepted for recycling at Loudoun County Electronics Recycling Events, Staples and Radio Shack. Staples also accepts pagers and handhelds.
