The Department of Planning and Zoning staff provide support to several Boards and Commissions as appointed by the Town Council:
Board of Architectural Review – provides review of various applications within the Old and Historic Overlay District (H-1) and the Historic Corridor Architectural Control Overlay District (H-2), as well as advises the Town Council on historic preservation matters.
Board of Zoning Appeals – reviews appeals of administrative decisions, variances, appeals of Zoning Map interpretations and other matters as defined by the Zoning Ordinance.
Environmental Advisory Council – reviews Town planning and policy documents as they relate to the environment, conducts an annual environmental awards program, and advises the Town Council on local environmental concerns.
Leesburg Watershed Committee – develops implementation recommendations for the recently completed Tuscarora Creek Watershed Study.
Planning Commission – oversees the planning and land development process, as well as the review and approval of land development applications.
Standing Residential Traffic Committee – concentrates on pedestrian safety and traffic calming measures within residential communities.
