Leesburg, VA (May 10, 2011)
–Town of Leesburg officials will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2011, for the grand opening of Transition Triathlon, located at 222 S. King Street, Suite 1, in Historic Downtown Leesburg. Mayor Kristen C. Umstattd will officiate, and the ceremony begins at 11:00 a.m.
Owned by accomplished triathletes and husband and wife, Steve Makranczy and Alex Korab, the mission of Transition Triathlon is to help those who want to challenge themselves through multi-sport training and racing. The store features a retail showroom where customers can shop for the latest running and swimming apparel, as well as triathlon accessories. Visitors can access the store directly from the W&OD Trail and relax in one of the cozy Adirondack chairs while replenishing themselves with a cold drink, Power Bar or other nutritional supplement.
In addition to the retail component, there are plans to offer free clinics for aspiring and curious athletes and a studio where athletes can join off season training and “Fancy Stretching” (athlete yoga) classes. The first clinic, “Intro to Triathlon” is scheduled for May 21st at 4:00 p.m.
“We cater to the users of the bike trail with drinks and snacks as well as those who arrive in cars,” said co-owner Alex Korab. “We want to become the place where triathletes can find all the gear they need, or just stop in for a break from their bike ride or run and hang out for a while.”
”Leesburg is a healthy community, and Transition Triathlon supports the needs of those citizens and visitors. It’s a perfect venue and location, just off the bike trail”, said Marantha Edwards, Economic Development Manager for the Town of Leesburg.
