Leesburg Offers Residents Extra Brush Collection Services in Response to Storm Damage
Posted Date: 7/3/2012
Leesburg, VA (July 3, 2012) – The Town of Leesburg’s Street Division crews are conducting additional brush collections to accommodate the higher-than-normal amounts of brush and tree limbs as a result of last week’s storm. Crews will be circulating through Leesburg neighborhoods with chipper trucks Monday through Friday until all brush has been collected. Given the volume of brush, this extra brush collection schedule could last for several weeks. There will be no brush collection on Wednesday, July 4, 2012.

Residents are urged to prepare their brush properly to ensure its efficient removal. Brush and tree limbs should not be larger than eight feet in length and six inches in diameter. Brush should be placed at the curb, and should not be mixed with other lawn debris, building materials, trash or recycling. Brush should not be placed in the street or in front of storm drains. For more information about Brush Collection, please visit the Town website at www.leesburgva.gov/index.aspx?page=153.

For smaller amounts of brush and other lawn or garden debris, residents are encouraged to have these items collected with the normal yard waste collection service. Lawn and garden debris and small brush placed in brown paper “yard waste” bags or in trash cans marked with “Yard Waste” stickers is collected on regular trash and recycling collection days. Yard Waste stickers are available at the receptionist’s desk in the lobby of Town Hall. For more information about Yard Waste Collection, please visit the Town website at www.leesburgva.gov/index.aspx?page=390.
