Elections are held on the first Tuesday in May in each even numbered year. Six of the seven Council Members are elected for four-year overlapping terms. The Mayor is elected for a two-year term. Citizens may register to vote at the Loudoun County Voter Registration Office, 801 Sycolin Road, SE, Suite 102, Leesburg, VA 20175-5686. Telephone (703) 777-0380. Information on polling locations can be found on the Loudoun County Website.

The Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers on the second floor of the Municipal Government Center, 25 West Market St. The Council also meets in a work session at 7:30 p.m. on Mondays preceding regular Tuesday meetings.

The public is welcome to attend the meetings. Council meetings can be seen live on one of  Leesburg's Government Access Channels, Comcast Channel 67 and Verizon Channel 35 or by webcast
