Balls Bluff Battlefield Regional Park – Civil War Battlefield on the Potomac River hill where the Union troops fell backward into the river in a defeat that merited a congressional investigation. Dodona Manor – Located in Leesburg's historic district, Dodona Manor was the home of General George C. Marshall from 1941-1959. Marshall was architect of the Allied Victory for World War II, Special Ambassador to China, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, and a Nobel Peace Laureate. Historic home and gardens are open year round; hours Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sundays 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and from June through August, Mondays 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Last daily tour begins at 4 p.m. Call (703) 777-1301 for information or to book a group tour. Leesburg First Friday – Historic Leesburg's fine art galleries, specialty shops, theatre and restaurants offer a delightful evening out from 6-9PM the First Friday of every month except January. Historic Downtown – Leesburg's Historic District offers an ever changing mix of one of a kind shops, restaurants, galleries, spas and small businesses. Loudoun Museum – Museum exhibits present three centuries of Loudoun heritage from its earliest history to the present. Year-round Children’s Discovery Room and special, changing exhibits.
